When I was 14 years old, during the school summer holidays, I read a book by Sir Ranulph Fiennes that inspired me to hop on my push bike and cycle 500 miles to my fathers house in Aberdeenshire with nothing but a pocket full of loose coins and a sleeping bag, it was my first true adventure. To now have this childhood idol as my expedition patron has been truly humbling and I’ve just received this wonderful message
“I’ve spent enough time in Antarctica to know what an extremely remarkable thing Capt Rudd has achieved. To have crossed the continent alone without assistance or support of any kind in the time of 56 days without a single day’s rest is nothing short of astonishing – a true testament to Lou’s mental and physical endurance. Capt Rudd is an inspiration to us all, I believe his name will go down in polar history.”

Truly Amazing accomplishment, as mentioned above it’s one thing to do it when you are younger another when you are older. Only one advantage Lou did have is experience , and wisdom years will give you!

What testament to your incredible achievements. Lou, you need to frame this wonderful accolade from this truly amazing man, the most famous living antarctic explorer on the planet! This is like someone 75 years ago getting a letter of commendation from Winston Churchill! You thoroughly deserve this praise Lou. What next?
